A Snapshot of My Professional Journey

Whether you're someone who's new to counseling and you've never had counseling before, in which case you're probably very nervous about it, or someone who's been to counseling before but is looking for a different approach, this article will help you get a sense of whether I am a good person for you to work with. Perhaps you have had more of the cognitive behavioral therapies and you're looking for something that's a little bit different to support you with your healing. I can help you in that case as well.

I have over 25 years’ experience practicing psychology and working in community development. My passion for community development comes from the belief that a healthy community supports good mental health. I look at the whole system and have a bigger picture approach when I'm working with people. I also work with the wisdom in the body as a primary methodology in healing.

With somatic psychology, we acknowledge that mind-body connection is essential in any trauma or emotional healing. This happens because the body holds the experiences that we've had, even when the mind has forgotten them. You learn how to listen to your body and understand how your body wants to communicate with you. You then have a wonderful opportunity to trust how the body knows how to let go of trauma, because our bodies do know, and they know how to do that once we get our minds out of the way.

If you feel like your body is on overdrive, or you have a feeling of anxiousness, a sense of flatness or there's a heaviness around you, that's your body talking to you. You might also feel like you just can't stop, like you're on the go, and you're so used to it, and how do you actually stop? It can feel exhausting. I can help you to come back to you, pause and regenerate. To see through all the noise and connect with the deeper wisdom you have about who are and what your life is about.

While I am from Australia, I've lived and worked in Kenya and India. I have worked in Canada and the US. I've won awards for my work in Australia and overseas for the programs I have set up to empower people and to restore trust in their authentic vision for themselves and their communities and to learn how to make their lives a reflection of their inner authentic wisdom.  I've worked with the United Nations, the Australian Government, community organizations around the world and the government in Kenya.

Are you living a life where you get to be all of you? Now, what's important for you to know is that I GET IT! I get what it takes for people to change. I get the barriers in people's lives that keep them away from being all of who they are. I understand how important it is to work with your mind, body, and spirit, to support alignment, so that you do feel like you can step forward, and you do feel like you can also step into yourself, trust yourself and be more comfortable in your own skin.

So, if any of this resonates with you, feel free to reach out, and I will look forward to meeting you.

Until next time, stop, take a slow breath, listen to your body.
